Statement of Intention
To support and encourage innovative and creative approaches to learning and performance through my interdisciplinary skill and background in dance, theatre and voice.
Qualifications and Achievements
Teaching - Eighteen years of experience teaching dance, choreography, voice and theatre in contexts ranging from professional settings to schools to correctional facilitates.
Dance - Designed and taught professional technique classes for companies and independent dancers, creative dance for children, modern dance for figure skaters, etc.;
Choreography - Designed and taught choreography workshops at UC Riverside, as well as high schools and Correctional Institutions.
Voice - Designed and facilitated voice for dancers at Simon Fraser University and the Independent Dance Community;
Theatre - Designed and taught introduction to voice and theatre.
Interdisciplinary Arts
Ten years of experience in interdisciplinary theatre incorporating dance, clowning and singing.
International tour of a solo performance;
Actor, dancer, singer in collaborative project with faculty from Buffalo Sate University.
Collaborated with professional Canadian Directors such as Patti Powell, Tom Stroud and Denise Fujiwara
Dance
Fifteen years of professional performance experience, including seven years with internationally renowned Modern Dance Company ‘ Dancemakers’ based in Toronto under the direction of Serge Bennathan
Dance contracts with professional choreographers whose work ranges from Classical Modern to Butoh to New Dance forms.
Theatre
Eleven years of experience acting and clowning in roles ranging from Shakespeare to contemporary experimental theatre.
• Acting - Classical and experimental forms with an exploratory approach;
• Clown - turns and full - length pieces of various characters.
Creator - Choreographer - Writer
Seventeen years experience creating original performance material including pure dance, interdisciplinary dance, and theatre.
· Dance - choreography presented in Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, Toronto - solo and group work.
· Theatre - writing and performance of original one - act shows from 3 - 55 minutes, including interdisciplinary clown - based material.
