About The Moving Company Performance Projects

“Whether we are isolated behind the locked doors of a building or within our own psyche, it is every human being’s right and honour to be able to express what is.”

Each project of The Moving Company is treated as a new starting place. Every project begins with a question and that question opens a door to limitless possibilites. Each creative process is created - recreated. Nothing is by route. Artistic Director Rebecca Hope Terry believes  each experience within the community can only be rewarding.

The mandate of the company remains constant - to create art that unites a variety of theatre disciplines – to support and inspire  innovative and creative approaches to performance and teaching.
A charitable organization since 2004, The Moving Company’s principal activities involve the research, creation and performance of dance and multi-disciplinary theatre on a national and international scale. Artists and non- artists may participate in The Moving Company’s classes in
 *Dance,
*Voice,
*Theatre and
*Other Multi-disciplinary artistic fusions.
The Moving Company explores new ways of reaching isolated communities – whether they be isolated by distance or by situation. Workshops are devised and taught for marginalised groups and communities.
The work of The Moving Company encompasses many priorities and serves diverse communities such as people who are blind, African-Canadian, Aboriginal and Asian - Canadian people. The Moving Company also works with the elderly, women in jail and girls within correctional institutes.
The necessary  combination of outreach support, research / development and creation/ performance activities are integrated according to the project’s needs.
